Course descriptions vary semester-to-semester. In general, this is a GEC course that introduces students to major authors and texts from a variety of nationalities and historical periods. Students read novels, stories, tales, poems, and other literary genres from the Western-European tradition and other cultural and historical traditions across the globe. Typically, my sections of World Literature focus their attention on matters of identity, communication, technology, and narrative, exploring different expressions of “literature” and the “world” across time and space. In addition to face-to-face sections of World Literature, I also regularly co-teach a large online course with 450+ students.
